The truth is that most of us should be reading erotica to figure out what the women we covet covet themselves. Unlike the lead character in FIFTY SHADES OF GREY, the hero of THE STRANGER (Cassie) doesn't have to lower herself to subjugation or humiliation in order to fulfill herself. That doesn't mean she isn't drawn to a powerful man, a dominant man, a sensual man- just that she remains her own person throughout the novel. For any man, the book should be a kind of life changing experience. I would read anything and everything, even if I had low expectations. Because, hey, "it was only $.99!!". With the recent popularity of "Shades of Grey" the amount of crappy books has increased to the point where I no longer wanted to read everything and anything. If I wanted crap with out a plot, and poorly written sex scenes, I would just knock on my neighbor's door, and ask to watch porn with him. (I can hear it through the walls). Even worse, there's this new fad of writing "parts" and charging $.99 for just a portion of the book. Not sequels. Parts. This new fad has made me mostly disillusioned with the "erotica" genre. I was not expecting to like it as much as I did. No regrets reading this little gem. I loved every single sentence.The author did such a great job making you feel connected to the characters. Some of you will have a problem with the cheating aspect in the book, which normally I do. However, you will feel connected to the characters. You will understand Kasie and how she views her relationship with, Dave. Dave who likes things a certain way and expects Kasie to be and act a certain way. Robert unravels Kasie and makes her finally feel. I loved it. I loved the passion, the steam, the every thing. I do feel a little guilty for liking a book that had the main female character cheat. However, I could not help it. I love the cliffhanger. It surprised me. I need the sequel now. For a novella, this one did not disappoint.
