Nathan is a high school senior and is assigned to work on a report on sociology. When him and his partner begin to look at missing persons websites for research they are shocked to see a little boy that looks like Nathan. When he questions his mother about it thier home is attacked and Nathan and his friend are forced to flee. I will start by saying that I am not a Taylor Lautner fan. Nothing to do with "Twilight" but more to do with his lack of acting ability. I went in to this looking to make fun of it and as much as I hate to admit it it was better then I expected. Still really bad, but better then I thought. I think my big problem with this one is that it had such a neat idea and seemed to do nothing with it. You can make an okay living playing in the minors, but the point isn't to get a regular paycheck. The goal is the Big Show. So Taylor can always look back and say that he was once on top of this world of eight billion souls. Not something many people can... John Singleton, the Academy Award-nominated director of Boyz 'N The Hood, has often been pigeonholed in this regard. He briefly flirted with more important social matters with 1997's Rosewood but has been held in the "hip-hop gangsta" box most black filmmakers are left in. Six years after his Mark Wahlberg-vehicle Four Brothers, Singleton breaks his mold with Abduction, an action-thriller following a young teen that discovers his parents are not really his parents and that he is the subject of a manhunt of double agents looking for something he has and other agents looking to keep him safe. The film immediately attempts to create a sense of respectability with character actors such as Jason Isaacs and Alfred Molina as well as acting heavyweights Sigourney Weaver and Maria Bello. However, the film is carried on the shoulders of Taylor Lautner, in what has become his first leading... Read more |
